On bottles of drinking yoghurt, milk and beverages it is not unusual to find, under or instead of the cap, an aluminium foil closure welded to the rim. It gives a visible tamper seal and protects the product. Let us see how it works and why it is a strong point of our machines.
Pre-cut foil discs or reel?
Aluminium lids can be bought pre-cut or produced from a reel. With a reel you buy the material on a roll and cut the capsule on site. The advantage is flexibility: sizes and shapes can be adapted and stock handling is simplified.
The Cut & form device
The Cut & form device is designed and made by Pasin SRL. It holds the aluminium reel and, in sequence, cuts and forms it into capsules. A pneumatic conveyor then takes the discs to the applicator head, a proximity sensor checks that each disc is present and the 8-head bronze sealing carousel welds the lid onto the bottle.
The device is external to the machine, so it does not add to its footprint. As an option, on filling machines such as the Maxima 5000, it is combined with the screw capper: the customer decides whether to use one, the other or both.

Foil or cap?
