Industry 4.0 for a filling machine: what it means and how to access incentives

What makes a machine “4.0”, why a touch-screen PLC matters and what to check with your accountant before buying.

When looking for a new machine the label “Industry 4.0” often comes up. It is not a slogan: it means the machine has certain technical characteristics, needed to access the tax incentives for capital goods.

What “certifiable” means

An “Industry 4.0 certifiable” machine has the technical requirements set by the rules. The incentive, however, belongs to the company that buys, which has to apply following the required procedure. That is why we say “certifiable” rather than “certified”.

The technical requirements in short

Machines must have some mandatory features: being controlled by a PLC or CNC, being interconnected with the company’s IT systems with the ability to receive instructions remotely, having a simple, intuitive human-machine interface and meeting workplace safety, health and hygiene parameters. Further features from an additional list are then required, such as remote monitoring or predictive maintenance.

How Pasin machines handle it

Our filling machines with a touch-screen PLC are Industry 4.0 certifiable. On many models remote assistance is included, so our technician can connect to the machine to check parameters and solve problems without travelling. Simpler machines may not have a PLC: check on each machine’s page whether it is among the certifiable ones.

What you need to do

Incentives have changed several times in recent years: rates, deadlines, ceilings and conditions depend on the budget laws in force at the time of purchase. Before ordering, therefore:

talk to your accountant to check whether, when and how you can access the incentive;

ask us for the machine’s technical documentation: we provide it for your application, which for large amounts may require a technical appraisal;

keep invoices and certificates within the required times and in the required way.

We help on the technical side; the tax side remains for your consultant. To find out whether the model you like is suitable, contact us: we will reply with the configuration and the documents available.
